Tackling Those Piles of Paper
By Ellen K. Jordan
Tackling
those piles of papers you have been avoiding. Whether you are lazy or
overwhelmed, here are some features that may help you get going.
How do you get started?
-
Pick a pile of paper – not more than you think you can
handle to begin with.
-
Separate the paper into like piles, such as all Insurance in
one pile, all Telephone information in another, Memberships, Clients and so
on.
-
Put a stick-um note on a piece of paper identifying the
pile, rubber band or clip it together.
-
Do this for all of your piles. They will automatically
become more manageable and you will see how this will come together as we
proceed. You have your piles of paper with your identifying labels on them.
At this juncture, you have tackled the most difficult
element of organization. When a pile of paper does not make sense we tend to
get overwhelmed by it. Now, stand back and view your
accomplishment. This is a milestone for some of us. Enjoy the moment and
look forward to more of these milestones. |
